<![CDATA[Hexacopters are taking off on TV. These six-rotor miniature helicopters carry broadcast-quality cameras and are fast replacing full-size helicopters for aerial shooting.

Operated by remote control, shots from hexacopters - or 'drones' - are becoming more familiar to TV audiences - from Olympic skiing coverage in Sochi 2014 to entertainment shows like The Great British Bake Off.
Owain Rich pioneered the use of hexacopters at the BBC World Service. In this special edition of the Media Podcast he talks about using copters on two of his recent productions: Auschwitz (One of BBC News' most-viewed Youtube videos of all time) and Soccer Cities, where drones allowed him to get closer to Rio's famous landmarks than ever before.
The Media Podcast with Olly Mann is a PPM Production, produced by Matt Hill.
